They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good. Titus 1:16
Some Believe in God....
But don't know him.
Some have an encounter with God, but don't really know him.
We know that we have come to know God if we keep his commnads. Whoever says, "I know him, " but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. 1 John 2:3-4
"Not everyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord", will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, "Lord, Lord", did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, "I never knew you"... Matthew 7:21-23
And know him, but don't know him well.
Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods. But now that you know God - or rather are known by God - how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable forces? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again? Galatians 4:8-9
Know him intimately and serve him wholeheartedly.
You, God are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live and in your name I will lift up my hands. Psalm 63:1-4
Those who know your name trust in you...Psalm 9:10
My Prayer for You
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe....Ephesians 1:17-19
I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, "I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing." But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. Revelation 3:15 17,20
So because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Revelation 3:15
1. Crave acceptance from people more than acceptance from God.
2. Rarely share their faith in Christ.
3. Rationalize their actions.
4. Think more about life on earth than eternity in heaven.
5. Only turn to God when they need something.
6. They give whenever it's convenient.
7. They are not much different from the rest of the world.
You say, "I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing." but you do not realilze that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. Revelation 3:17
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. Revelation 3:20
If your enemy can’t destroy you, he will distract you.
Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and the rest of our enemies found out that I had finished rebuilding the wall and that no gaps remained—though we had not yet set up the doors in the gates. 2So Sanballat and Geshem sent a message asking me to meet them at one of the villages in the plain of Ono. Nehemiah 6:1-2 NLT
What we call an opportunity, God often calls a distraction.
The fifth time, Sanballat’s servant came with an open letter in his hand, 6and this is what it said: “There is a rumor among the surrounding nations, and Geshem tells me it is true, that you and the Jews are planning to rebel and that is why you are building the wall. According to his reports, you plan to be their king.” Nehemiah 6:5-6 NLT
You will never do big things if you are distracted by small-minded people!
I replied, “There is no truth in any part of your story. You are making up the whole thing.” They were just trying to intimidate us, imagining that they could discourage us and stop the work. So I continued the work with even greater determination. Later I went to visit Shemaiah …. He said, “Let us meet together inside the Temple of God and bolt the doors shut. Your enemies are coming to kill you tonight.” But I replied, “Should someone in my position run from danger? Should someone in my position enter the Temple to save his life? No, I won’t do it!” 12I realized that God had not spoken to him, but that he had uttered this prophecy against me because Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.13They were hoping to intimidate me and make me sin. Then they would be able to accuse and discredit me. Nehemiah 6:8-13 NLT
And I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work and I cannot come down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and come down to you?” Nehemiah 6:3 ESV
