1. Listen. "I will stand at my watch an dstation myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he (God) will say to me...Habakkuk2:1
2. Write it Down. "Then the Lord replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets..." Habakkuk 2:2
3. Wait. "For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks fo the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for or it; it will certainly come and will not delay." Habakkuk 2:3
"But these things I plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time apporaches when the vision will be fulfulled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!" Habakkuk 2:3
God's delays are not God's denials.
If it's not God's time, you can't force it!
When it is God's time, you can't stop it!
See, the enemy is puffed up; his desires are not upright - but the righteous person will live by his faithfulness. " Habakkuk 2
"But the Lord is in his holy temple." Habakkuk 2:20
WITH ALL MY MIND
Mk 12:30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
Why Should I Read God’s Word?
1.) You will know God’s _______________!
Jer 33:3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’
Ro 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Ro 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
2.) You will be _______________!
Jos 1:8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
3.) You will experience _______________!
Lk 23:55 The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. Lk 23:56 Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.
Phil 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
DON’T FORGET WHERE YOU CAME FROM
Ge 1:26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” Ge 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Why should we remember where we came from?
1. It will put your ____________ in its proper ____________.
Isa 51:1 “Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the LORD? Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn.
2. It will keep you in perfect ____________.
Mt 6:25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Mt 6:26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
3. It will bring you ____________ to your rightful ____________.
Lk 15:17 “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! Lk 15:18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. Lk 15:19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men.’ Lk 15:20 So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
Lk 15:21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ Lk 15:22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Lk 15:23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. Lk 15:24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.
1) On one side, a criminal ____________ ____________ at Jesus, ____________ ____________ for not saving himself.
Lk 23:39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and us!â€
Mk 10:45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.â€
2) One the other side hung a criminal who ____________ the fact that he ___________ _____ ____ ___________—but Jesus didn’t.
Lk 23:40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,†he said, “since you are under the same sentence? Lk 23:41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.
Salvation is to be delivered from the ______________, where we deserve to be ____________.
†Lk 23:42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.’†Lk 23:43 Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.â€
La 3:21 Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: La 3:22 Because of the LORD'S great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. La 3:23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
A NEW 24
Col 2:6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, Col 2:7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Col 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. Col 2:9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, Col 2:10 and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.
If your enemy can’t destroy you, he will distract you.
Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and the rest of our enemies found out that I had finished rebuilding the wall and that no gaps remained—though we had not yet set up the doors in the gates. 2So Sanballat and Geshem sent a message asking me to meet them at one of the villages in the plain of Ono. Nehemiah 6:1-2 NLT
What we call an opportunity, God often calls a distraction.
The fifth time, Sanballat’s servant came with an open letter in his hand, 6and this is what it said: “There is a rumor among the surrounding nations, and Geshem tells me it is true, that you and the Jews are planning to rebel and that is why you are building the wall. According to his reports, you plan to be their king.” Nehemiah 6:5-6 NLT
You will never do big things if you are distracted by small-minded people!
I replied, “There is no truth in any part of your story. You are making up the whole thing.” They were just trying to intimidate us, imagining that they could discourage us and stop the work. So I continued the work with even greater determination. Later I went to visit Shemaiah …. He said, “Let us meet together inside the Temple of God and bolt the doors shut. Your enemies are coming to kill you tonight.” But I replied, “Should someone in my position run from danger? Should someone in my position enter the Temple to save his life? No, I won’t do it!” 12I realized that God had not spoken to him, but that he had uttered this prophecy against me because Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.13They were hoping to intimidate me and make me sin. Then they would be able to accuse and discredit me. Nehemiah 6:8-13 NLT
And I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work and I cannot come down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and come down to you?” Nehemiah 6:3 ESV
IT’S THE _______________ THAT NO ONE SEES
WHICH RESULT IN THE _______________ EVERYONE WANTS.
21 The tongue has the power of life and death… Proverbs 18:21
3 We can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth. 4 And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong. 5 In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. James 3:3-5 NLT
18 The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. Proverbs 12:18
4 The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit. Proverbs 15:4
1) IF YOU CAN’T SAY SOMETHING HELPFUL—____________ IT.
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Ephesians 4:29
2) IF YOU THINK SOMETHING GOOD—____________ IT!
24 Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Proverbs 16:24
…but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. 1 Samuel 30:6 KJV
• MY ONE STATEMENT:
Words have the power of life and death!
Change the way you ________— Change the words you_________.
27 As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” 28 When (Jesus) had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they replied. 29 Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”; 30 and their sight was restored. Matthew 9:27-30
WHAT KIND OF FAITH HONORS GOD?
1) FAITH THAT ____________ WHEN IT DOESN’T SEE.
Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. Hebrews 11:1 NLT
28 When (Jesus) had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they replied. Matthew 9:28
2) FAITH THAT ___________ WHEN NOTHING __________.
2 Be persistent in prayer, and keep alert as you pray, giving thanks to God. Colossians 4:2
3) FAITH THAT ____________WHEN IT DOESN’T MAKE ____________.
22 You see that (Abraham’s) faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. James 2:22
4 Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ… 2 Corinthians 4:4 NLT
Lk 23:32 Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. Lk 23:33 When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. Lk 23:34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.
LET’S GET PERSONAL
- We sin not because of a lack of _______________, but because of a lack of _______________ in our hearts.
How is this true in your life? __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
“FATHER, FORGIVE THEM EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW
EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING!”
Mt 18:21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” Mt 18:22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.
Eph 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Eph 5:1 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children Eph 5:2 and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
- If you don’t give ____________, I don’t believe you really have ____________.
Do you truly know the extent to which you have been forgiven, and the price that was paid for your forgiveness? _________________________________
Are you offering forgiveness the same way that you have received forgiveness? ___________________________________________________
Pray: God, I praise You for delivering me from my past and making me a new creation in Jesus Christ. I pray that You will help me open my eyes to the full extent of Your forgiveness. Give me the vision to follow You as my guide as You continue making me new every day. Amen.
THE GREATEST MOMENT OF ______________ THAT ANYONE COULD EVER EXPERIENCE
Mt 27:46 About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?”—which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE _______________ OF GOD TO FLOW FROM A LIFE IS TO _______________ IT.
Lk 22:42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”
HE’S BEEN WITH US __________ __________.
Jer 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
2Co 4:8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 2Co 4:9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 2Co 4:10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 2Co 4:11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body. 2Co 4:12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you… 2Co 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 2Co 4:17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 2Co 4:18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
JESUS WAS _______________ SO THAT YOU WOULD NOT HAVE TO BE!
Jn 14:15 “If you love me, you will obey what I command. Jn 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— Jn 14:17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. Jn 14:18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Jn 14:19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. Jn 14:20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Jn 14:21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.”
Prayer: Jesus, I thank You for being forsaken so that I wouldn’t have to. I pray that You will help me to recognize Your presence in everything I face today. Let me accept my troubles as temporary and look ahead toward the eternal reward that outweighs and overshadows everything else. Amen!
